Killorglin Information

If you're driving the beautiful Ring of Kerry then you're bound to stumble upon this pretty town, as it's the first port of call when you leave Killarney. Killorglin is situated on a hill over-looking the wide and graceful Laune, a river offering salmon and trout fishing. Dominating the landscape to the south are the Macgillycuddy's Reeks - Ireland's highest mountain range.

Killorglin is a lovely setting for your break in Kerry, as it's geographically located in the heart of the county which makes touring easy. It has lots of opportunities for walking, golfing, fishing, swimming and even sunbathing, as the beautiful Rossbeigh beach is just a short drive. The town also boasts some charming little pubs and restaurants.

Killorglin really comes alive each year on the 10th, 11th, 12th of August when it celebrates Ireland's oldest and most unusual festival " Puck Fair". This extraordinary festival involves the crowning of a goat! It is said that a goat once saved this town from invasion by Cromwell's troops, so each year a puck goat is taken from the mountains and placed in a pedestal in the town. With plenty of entertainment, music and Guinness this is a festival not to be missed!
